Your path toward healing begins here
Halopenthos™ Grief Sessions
Halopenthos™ is a specialized wellness program held inside our salt cave, designed specifically for people navigating grief from the loss of a loved one. It combines Halotherapy (the physical healing of salt air) with Penthos (the intentional honoring of loss). It's a space where you can finally stop "holding it all together" and just breathe – using the salt to clear your lungs while the serene environment helps clear your mind. Sessions are led by a trained facilitator.
What to Expect
You will experience our salt cave for 45 minutes with others experiencing grief in some capacity. Everyone in the room has the agency to decide how much or little interaction they would like to experience during the session. This is your time, so use it as you’d like to connect with others, journal alone, or simply close your eyes and rest. Let the salt heal your body while you work to heal your soul.
Grief Session FAQ's
What is Halopenthos™?
What is Halopenthos™?
The name is a blend of two ancient concepts: Halo (the Greek root word for salt) and Penthos (the Greek root word for mourning, grief, or sorrow). Here at Lifted Wellness, our goal is to incorporate grief support into the wellness space because we believe suppressed grief is held in the body and can negatively impact our daily lives if it goes unaddressed. Our Halopenthos™ program is designed to offer meditation, journaling, grounded breathing techniques, and the opportunity to connect with others going through the grief journey. Our sessions offer a sacred, salt-infused sanctuary where grief is honored and the mask of “I’m doing ok” can be removed for 45 minutes.
I’m not a "group person." Do I have to talk to others?
I’m not a "group person." Do I have to talk to others?
Not at all. One of the core pillars of Halopenthos™ is autonomy. We offer solitude sessions where guests will not be asked to speak or share your story, but rather absorb the environment and work on addressing the grief stored in the body. We also offer connection sessions where guests are encouraged to share and connect with others who are experiencing similar seasons of grief. At Lifted Wellness, we understand grief. Some days you may feel like connecting with others and some days you may want to be alone. We respect and honor your process; please choose the session that speaks to you.
How does the salt actually help with grief?
How does the salt actually help with grief?
Grief is a physical experience as much as an emotional one. Many people feel a "tightness" in their chest, shallow breathing, or even unexplained pain in their bodies when mourning the loss of a loved one.
- Respiratory Relief: The salt air helps open airways and reduce inflammation in the lungs.
- Nervous System Support: Salt caves are rich in negative ions, which can help lower cortisol (stress) levels and improve mood. Our techniques activate your vagus nerve and support your automated nervous system (ANS) to move from the sympathetic (fight or flight; highly vigilant; gas pedal) to the parasympathetic (rest and digest; repair state; brake pedal).
- The Metaphor: Just as salt is used to preserve and purify, we use the cave to "preserve" a space for your memories and "purify" the heavy stress held in your body.
- Trained Facilitator Support: Halopenthos™ is not grief therapy. It is another tool individuals can use to navigate through grief. Each session provides access to a trained grief facilitator.
What should I wear?
What should I wear?
Wear something you feel completely relaxed in—sweatpants, leggings, or loose-fitting clothes. We ask that you remove your shoes and wear a clean pair of socks (white socks are best as they don't show the salt). We provide comfortable seating, including chairs, meditation pillows, and blankets.
Is this a therapy group?
Is this a therapy group?
Halopenthos™ is a facilitator led, peer support wellness program, not clinical group therapy. While the sessions are deeply therapeutic and can be a wonderful companion to professional counseling, they are led by trained facilitators focused on creating a supportive environment rather than licensed mental health clinicians.
Can I come if my loss was a long time ago?
Can I come if my loss was a long time ago?
Yes. Grief has no expiration date. When we grieve someone, it means we loved them. And that love never ends. Our relationship with our loved ones simply changes, not erases, after their death. Whether your loss happened last week or twenty years ago, you are welcome. If you are feeling the "weight" of loss today, this space is for you.
What if I start crying?
What if I start crying?
Tears are a natural and welcome part of the Halopenthos™ experience. Our salt cave is a judgment-free zone. In fact, many find the dim lighting and the salt walls to be the first place they feel truly safe enough to let go and begin to process the feelings commonly experienced during the grieving process.
Can I sign up for a Halopenthos™ session if I haven’t lost a loved one?
Can I sign up for a Halopenthos™ session if I haven’t lost a loved one?
Absolutely. Grief comes in all shapes and forms, from divorce, parenting struggles, pre- and post-partum struggles, family dynamics, etc. Many of us continue to carry grief from the sudden changes the COVID-19 pandemic caused. Please know our Halopenthos™ sessions are tailored to support grief related to the death of our loved ones, but we recognize other forms of grief can carry similar feelings that can be supported during our Halopenthos™ sessions. Grief is grief.
